Idaho Botanical Gardens Master Plan
Russell + Mills Studios led the master planning efforts for the Idaho Botanical Garden in Boise, ID. The updated master plan expands on the existing garden structure and facilities, while maintaining the current framework of the site. The site is 33 acres total, with about 15 acres undeveloped. Newly designed entry facilities, parking, event spaces, and improved site flow and access are all key objectives for the project. The central green space of the garden, Outlaw Field, is renovated to improve venue operations and programming. New garden areas connect to existing gardens, creating a sinuous botanical experience for guests. Programming for new garden areas, like the Applied Horticulture Garden, Treasure Valley History Garden and Plant Select Garden focus heavily on creating engaging spaces appropriate for high desert and regional vegetation, while promoting gardening and food sourcing education to visitors. The relocated back of house maintenance facilities feature new greenhouses, composting, and equipment storage areas.
